As managing editor of a clinically focused medical journal, I rely upon a staff of freelance copy editors to help shape each month’s articles. Lindsay has been working for the journal for the better part of a year, and she may be the best of this group.
Her copyediting is judicious, not overbearing, so the author’s work continues to reflect the author’s voice. Nevertheless, Lindsay does not shy away from reworking and restructuring papers in a major way if needed. She also lets authors know exactly what was done, and to her credit, both authors and I usually agree the changes are for the better.
Her knowledge of AMA style is solid and her attention to detail, even on such tedious work as multipage tables, is exemplary.
Her consistency is also very reassuring. Despite the varying quality of papers given to her, they ultimately wind up reading similarly and well. Lindsay also works quickly and does not take on too much work and/or make promises she cannot keep.
In short, I really shouldn’t be recommending her for other jobs but rather keeping her all to myself.
Colin Gittens, Managing Editor
The American Journal of Managed Care
I’ve worked with Lindsay for over seven years, and she is one of the most reliable writers I’ve known. She always seems to pick up on what I’m looking for in a writing or editing projectthose unspoken directives that I don’t always have the time to spell out. And she consistently delivers on time and within my budget.
Her background in scientific editing serves her well in many spheres of publishing, both lay and technical. She is consistent and thorough with details but doesn’t let them obfuscate the big pictureshe keeps her sense of overall organization, tone, and scope of the piece.
Her extensive experience allows her to understand what you’re doing from your perspective, and to produce first-rate work that doesn’t have to be overhauled once it hits your desk.

Lindsay has an extraordinary ability to transform rough, wordy, and sometimes incomplete raw data into readable, coherent, and accurate prose. She not only meets deadlines but delivers completed assignments early. She is a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to working with her on many assignments in the future.

Grammarians-
Your queries were clear, concise, and very helpful, and we accepted nearly all of your suggested rewrites. It was clear that you put a considerable amount of thought and care into each chapter. More than that, though, it was a pleasure working with you.
I had a series of bad experiences with freelancers just before we worked together, and you were truly a relief and a pleasure to work with.
Ed Winkleman, Project Editor, Books Division

Your efforts in compiling the research and writing the text have produced an excellent consumer publication for First American Bank. You captured the original objective of explaining complex financial terms and procedures in simple English, understandable by all types of consumers seeking financial assistance. I am very, very pleased with the final pieces.

Ms. Edmunds is a creative, talented writer who is able to understand the philosophy and technical workings of our particular industry. She does exhaustive research that ensures accuracy, as well as enhancing her ability to communicate sometimes complex and technical subjects in language that is easily understood and interesting to read. She is equally at home in writing on serious subjects in firm no nonsense language and in writing fun, chatty, and informational pieces.
One of the gifts that I believe is unique about Lindsay is that if given writing samples, she has, when asked to draft comments or introductory material, been uncannily able to replicate the tone, style, and philosophy of the organization or individual with very little editing.

Lindsay provides more than just freelance help I consider her a true resource.
