The American Journal of Managed Care

Supplements and Meeting Coverage

“Founded in 1995, the Journal provides a forum for peer-reviewed literature on healthcare outcomes research. The American Journal of Managed Care is indexed in many of the top scientific databases, such as: MEDLINE/ PUBMED, Current Contents/Clinical Medicine, EMBASE, and Science Citation Index Expanded.  The Journal is mailed to nearly 49,000 clinical decision makers in managed care, including physicians, hospital directors, and medical / pharmacy / formulary directors at managed care organizations.”

I joined the staff of The American Journal of Managed Care as an editor in 1996, the year after it was founded. In 14 excellent years with the Journal, I have covered meetings, written abstracts and continuing education questions, and done both substantive and copy editing of a wide range of articles.

Subjects include the following:

  • Medicaid
  • Medicare
  • VA health services
  • HMOs
  • PPOs
  • Health disparities
  • Medication adherence
  • Management of medically complex patients
  • Cost-effectiveness research
  • Clinical studies relating to diabetes, depression, cancer, asthma, hypertension, and numerous other conditions.

The journal’s archives are located here. I edited more than half of the articles published from 1996 through 2009.
